Sarawak State Award

I received a letter from the office of the TYT Yang DiPertua Negeri Sarawak (Governor) dated 8 January 2010. The investiture ceremony for the award, Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK), which was awarded to me in 2008, was going to be done on 2 & 3 February 2010 at Astana Sarawak. I was one of the 110 recipients. Since we were allowed to bring a guest, I took my spouse along. It was a welcomed change for her. After all, she hadn't been to Kuching for about a year. We took a direct flight from Penang on 1 February 2010 at about 7 pm. Our return flight on 4 February 2010, likewise, was also at night (9 pm). The ceremonmy was simple yet solemn - befitting a State Award. We were treated to a luncheon after the ceremony.

  1. Tahniah! BTW are you staying put in Penang? I consider Penang my second home. Studied there in the early 70's. Am the second batch of graduating students from Universiti Pulau Pinang, now re-named as Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

  2. Mood,

I'm staying in Taiping. My daughter is staying in Penang - married to "orang mummy".

I have been plying to Kuching from Penang - direct flight as it is less stressful on old men.

    Thanks for dropping by.

  4. Thanks Rano. You can follow this blog on any latest development regards Ops Ngerapuh - under the topic of Op Ngerapuh Stranded.

It is not dead yet but things are moving very slowly. I'll keep pushing until the Federal Government agrees to form a Federal Working Committee to handle all possible aspects to exhume and bring the remains back to Kuching.

  8. Thank you Squad. Contacts played a significant role. My friend who sits in the State Government pushed my name through, otherwise I will never smell this kind of award. Thanks for him.

  9. Squad,

Congratulations. Just now I heard the PM announced on TV 3 news that the remains of Sarawak Rangers will be brought home to Sarawak. Your endless efforts on this issue have finally paid off. Well done, Squad.

  10. Squad,

This is the best news for me. I have tears of joy in my eyes now. I thought they have ignored my pleas. A week ago I wrote again to the Defence Minister, inquiring on the outcome of my first letter I wrote to him in November 2009.

    Alhamdullilah Syukur.
